"I cannot believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is, above all, to matter: to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you have lived at all"    Leo Rosten

    Golden Moose

As honored as I was to have gotten a Golden Geer a couple weeks ago, it was really special to have gotten the Golden Moose today. The idea is essentially the same, but it's for Mechanical Engineering. 'To the student who best exemplifies the MecE club spirit.' Cole Nychka gave me a really nice introduction and I was hard to go up an receive the award. Basically I've just had a lot of fun over the last five years, and planning events such as the tech tours was part of that fun. I'm just glad that everyone else had fun with the events I planned.

And in case your wondering where the inscription nickname Jocular Man comes from, it was a halloween costume I wore to school Halloween 2004. I'll add the picture here.

    Golden Geer Award

For the end of National Engineering week, there is the NEGW banquet. And each year they hand out the Golden Geer award. What is it? Well it can be read right on the plaque, but it's for contributing to the engineering community. I was honored to have received one this year for being part of the ESS as AVP Industry and running the Engineering Career Fair in January. Plus I got a free dinner so it was great on all accounts :-)
